Berkeley library welcomes back yarnbombing on racks

thepinakes:

I’m primarily posting this link for two reasons: that headline, and the verb “yarnbombing.”

Remember my post in April about Berkeley being dumb and rejecting the yarnbombing? Well, they’ve seen the light now.

Berkeley library not thrilled about yarnbombing
[h/t LISnews]
You can come yarnbomb my library any old time, but the locals seem to prefer, you know, sunflower seeding. Creative, don’t get me wrong, but disgusting to clean up.
Joking aside, this seems to me to be an example of librarians getting on the wrong side of their community and reinforcing the dour stereotypes. What does it hurt to leave the artistic contributions up, especially in a free spirit community like Berkeley?
